as a former pageant kid the amount of emotional abuse i went through because of my mother always pushing me to be beautiful and then blaming me and hating me when i didnt win was fucked up. being a pageant kid gave me an eating disorder and has seriously fucked with my self esteem. don’t put your kids through this. don’t let your 5 year old be objectified by others and yourself.

Growing up in an abusive household is a fucking trip dude……If you’ve never had someone angrily wash a dish at you or fold a sock in your direction then how are you gonna understand why I get nervous when you quietly do the laundry, or why I ask “are you mad at me?” when you set the bag of groceries down too hard? It’s a totally different way of living and it impacts you long after you’ve left the situation.

Except it literally is. I deal with verbal and emotional abuse daily at my job. I get disrespected daily. I’ve had customers throw things at me. Not one of those situations have I ever felt the need to pull a gun on them and shoot them. In fact, I am expected to tolerate that kind of abuse with a smile and often times those people get rewarded for their behavior.
If a cop can’t deal with being disrespected without murdering people then they don’t need to be a fucking cop.

Do you ever just… crave the forest? Like you feel like you NEED to be in a forest. The crisp cold air with just a sweater on, looking at the red and orange foliage in the autumn. In the winter the frigid and empty branches. The summer all the green. The spring the smell of rain and the mud. God I love the forest.

Wallace’s Flying Frog - Rhacophorus nigropalmatus
Commonly named after the British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, the Wallace’s Flying Frog, Rhacophorus nigropalmatus (Rhacophoridae) is a dramatic looking frog distinguished from other flying frogs by its large size (up to 10 cm), and the black coloration of the webbing on all four feet. The dorsal surface of the body and legs is a vivid green, and the side yellow. The large eyes have horizontal pupils.
Living mainly at mid-canopy level of tropical rainforests, the extensive webbing allows for long glides from tree to tree. The species can be found at ground level when it descends to mate and construct its bubble nest. It is distributed Thailand, Laos and Vietnam through Peninsular Malaysia to the island of Borneo.
This was the only frog collected by Wallace in Sarawak (1854). He wrote a vivid description of the species, including a sketch drawn by himself in his notebook and the assessment that it was a new Rhacophorus, but this remained unnamed until described as Rhacophorus nigropalmatus (Boulenger 1895).
